Linen stitch makes flat fabric that drapes nicely. I'm making a flowing jacket called a cocoon using mostly silk yarn. The rows alternate between verigated and plain color yarns—two rows of each on an even number of stitches. Row 1: k1, sl1 with yarn in front. Row 2: p1, sl1 with yarn in back.

Oh, linen stitch! I saw the most beautiful baby blanket knit from it yesterday. Is one side less bumpy than the other?
Yes, one side is firly smooth.
